 Rich Matz Acoustic

Up

First of all, I will not refer to myself in “third person form”, because I am my own press agent, in this case. I first started playing acoustic guitar way back in, about 1972 or so, before many of you were even born, not that this fact makes me any better or worse than anyone else. It's a long time nonetheless. By now I should know pretty much “what the hell I'm doing”. I started banging away on top chords and still do to this day. Vocals I just fell into unintentionally. I discovered that with much practice and a few helpful lessons, I was capable of holding a show together all by myself. Occasionally I play over 2 hours straight without a break; “boy am I dumb”. Actually it's something I really love to do and hope I convey this to my audience.

My repertoire is quite extensive. I cover a vast expanse of music, because there is so much to choose from and variety “makes the world spin”. I currently have a play list of about 530 songs, most of which I know pretty well. Some may need a little brush up, but I've played them all at one time or another. Much of this music is '60's thru '80's rock. I also love to play blues standards, folk selections, soul, R&B, reggae and even a few country songs “now and again”. I try to cover a wide range of artists. One of my personal goals is to learn at least one song from every album, tape or disc that I own. I cover artists including, the Beatles, Jackson Browne, Jim Croce, Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, Golden Earring, Grateful Dead, John Hiatt, John Prine, Rolling Stones, Richard Thompson and Frank Zappa. My original selections, round out my program nicely. I have written four albums worth of my own materials and am currently working on a fifth. I don’t use any drum tracks or tapes in my live shows. What you see is what you get; “old school”. I am accompanied by the other Matz Broz, for many of my shows. I (or we) hope to be of service for your musical entertainment needs. Demo tapes, studio recordings and set lists available on request.
